The other reason drums are so good at relieving stress is merely because they are an outlet for pent up energy to be released. With the release of that energy, the body will produce more endorphins, thus making you a happier individual and increasing the quality of the life in which you live.  Closer examination has shown that learning to play the drums serves as a well used distraction from the continual pain, or grief, which may plague some of our many men and women of service. Music theory lessons speed up music lessons

Music theory training starts with learning the vocabulary and language of music. Each element can be understood as written in music notation, on the instrument, and when heard in sound. These three ways of knowing and understanding are not easily connected because the paths of learning differ for each. The instrument is learned by demonstration and physical motion.
Learning music notation requires knowledge of staff and written symbols. Ear training requires that the concepts of pitch, interval, scale, and chord be connected with sound. The results of not connecting ear training, instrument study, and music reading leave musicians with limited skills. It is easy to go down one path and lose sight of another. Thus we have musicians that play by ear but cannot read music or those that read but cannot play by ear or improvise. Music students who combine music lessons with instrument study and ear training tend to make the most progress and become the most versatile musicians because these skills reinforce one another.

The History of the Piano

When talking about the history of the piano mention must be made of the early instruments that paved its way.

The first historical mention of instruments is in Genesis 4:21. The King James Version reads as follows: "And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ". The first instrument in history to have a keyboard was the Hydraulis, the precursor of the modern organ. It was built in Greece about 220 B.C. By the Second Century A.D. the organ was commonly used at important festivities in Greece and the Roman Empire.

The earliest keyboards were played with the hands, wrists, fists, knees, or feet. Up to the 13th Century the scales were diatonic ssrather than the twelve tone chromatic scale we use today grand piano.

The piano is founded on earlier technological innovations. The 14th and 15th Centuries saw the development of different kinds of keyboard stringed instruments. Some came with hammers, including the chekker, dulce melos, and clavichord. Some were plucked instruments, including the virginal, spinet and harpsichord.

The modern piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori (1655–1731) of Padua. He was an expert harpsichord maker, employed by Ferdinando de' Medici, Grand Prince of Tuscany, as the Keeper of the Instruments. The first piano he built was about the year 1700 or 1698.

Online Music Lessons

Online music lessons are offered mainly through private individual or company websites. Students can learn how to play an instrument and read music. Both free and fee-based music lessons are available on the Internet. Though not common, some institutions do provide online certificate programs for the musician who is serious about completing a sequence of classes to improve his or her musical ability.

Many of the free online music lessons are delivered in print format while many of the fee-based music tutorials are provided in video format. In both cases, supplemental materials are provided to help students learn.

Many interactive aids are provided to supplement online music instruction. For instance, music tutorials delivered in print format often include audio clips to accompany music notation or video clips to demonstrate the specific technique or song being taught. Because practice plays an important part in learning a musical instrument, most online music tutorial websites offer materials, either online or downloadable, to help students practice in between lessons.
